ASVT Foster Guidelines

Please understand that you are agreeing to abide by these guidelines by clicking "I Agree".

All ASVT fosters should request to join the ASVT Fosters Facebook Group. This is a private group where notifications and updates are posted.
Email is ASVTs primary method of communication. Please check your email at least daily for adoption inquiries, etc.

GENERAL

• ​​Foster agrees to attend adoption events at least once a month. Adoption events are posted on the ASVT website and Facebook page.
• Foster agrees to maintain and update their pet’s information in RGO, ASVTs foster tracking database, in a timely fashion.
• Foster agrees to transport their foster pets to all necessary appointments (veterinarian, spay/neuter, vaccination clinics, adoption events, transports). Help with transportation is available.​

MEDICAL

• Foster agrees to keep their pet's vaccination record up-to-date by printing and following the ASVT vaccine protocol (Available under the "EDUCATE" tab.
• Foster agrees to administer flea and heartworm (for dogs only) preventatives every month. ASVT provides the preventatives.
• Foster agrees to update the Foster Coordinator and the Board of Directors on any changes to their foster pet's medical condition.
• Foster agrees to contact the Foster Medical Coordinator if their foster pet requires medical attention.
• Foster agrees to be financially responsible for any medical expenses not approved by ASVT.

ADOPTION

• Foster agrees to notify the Foster Coordinator immediately when their foster pet is adopted.
• Foster agrees to be responsible for the completion of an adoption application and contract if their foster pet is adopted outside an ASVT adoption event. The adoption paperwork, including the adopter's package, are available under the "EDUCATE" tab.
• Foster agrees to submit adoption applications, contracts and fees within three days of adoption. The paperwork and fees should be mailed to ASVT, PO Box 476, Montgomery TX 77356, or given to an adoption event coordinator if the pet is adopted at an adoption event.​
